In this paper we will analyze the efficiency of three ways of energy recovery from a PMSM motor used as an electric generator according to the mechanical power applied to its shaft, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Regenerative braking energy recovery can be effectively achieved in electrical system by combining the permanent magnet synchronous motor driving system with the storage system. In the paper a detailed analysis of each method is carried out in respect with the schematic and functional stage of electronic system. The paper is a survey and represent the preliminary work in achieving the knowledge for developing a practical solution.
