As world population is getting older there is a growing need for solutions allowing for assisting older persons in their everyday lives. There are several fields where ICT solutions can thrive in terms of helping older adults and some of them are presence and fall detection. Many different techniques can be used for those purposes. In the paper a novel approach to presence and fall detection in confined indoor environments is presented, where results of analysis of the impulse channel response between UWB (ultrawideband) transceivers are utilized. Proposed method description as well as experimental results are presented.
