Smartphones can be considered, for the most part, devices for leisure and entertainment. However, when analyzing the potential of today’s handsets, it is remarkable the ability of these devices to meet the needs of professionals. This is due to the great technological potential contained in this device making it very efficient, complete and highly portable. Therefore, the easy handling and the low financial cost of acquiring state-ofthe- art smartphones has led to the development of countless benefits research when applied to the job market. From the set of tools that it has, a path to be traced is the solutions in Augmented Reality (AR) on mobile platforms. The ability to process and execute AR applications related to the use of the portable camera that makes it possible, makes possible the appearance of compatible application ideas. In this way, this article describes the development of a mobile application with AR technologies to minimize the risks of professionals working in high risk areas, as well as the incentive to increase worker familiarization in these areas. In this way, a prototype was developed that, through flat markers, presents three-dimensional models developed using Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts for the user, accomplishing the stated expectations and proving the prosperity of researches in the AR areas, when applied to high risk sectors.
