Seal Performance Analysis of Hard Seal Ceramic Ball Valve

Due to high temperature, high pressure, strong corrosion and other adverse conditions, metal valves can easily cause seal failure and leak in coal chemical, petrochemical and other industries. This article mainly aims at the problem that the Ceramic ball valve is prone to seal failure, and expands research to the leakage of the valve. The material of the ball valve is Zirconia Ceramics. We have used Solid works to establish a simplified model of ball valve when the ball valve was closed, the opening of the valve was zero. We have used ANSYS Workbench calculate the seal pressure of the seal surface when the media pressure was OMPa, 5MPa, 10MPa, 15MPa and 20MPa. The maximum value of the equivalent stress is 325.23MPa and the maximum deformation is 0.15544mm when the media pressure is 20MPa. Under the condition of different media pressure, the upward trend of seal pressure is obtained by simulation and they all meet the conditions of seal. The minimum seal pressure at the seal surface is 1.1604MPa when the media pressure is OMPa. It shows that this hard seal Ceramic ball valve has good seal performance and no media leakage occurs.
