This paper is concerned with the load frequency control for one-area power systems subject to communication delay. To reduce the trigger times, a novel event-trigger scheme is proposed by introducing an exponential decay function into the threshold function. Then, taking the communication delay into account, a model of load frequency control (LFC) scheme is put forward based on the time-delayed system design method. By virtue of the Lyapunov stability theory, two sets of less conservative criteria for stability analysis and control synthesis are developed. Finally, a practical one-area power system is given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed control scheme and the established criteria.
