The Glaucoma disease is supposed to be one of the deadliest eye diseases in the world & if this is not treated properly might lead to permanent blindness. As the disease has not symptoms that externally, it is detected to loss of vison at sides. The slow progressive degeneration of ganglion cells in retina and axons, is categorized as Glaucoma, this results optic nerve head (ONH) having a distinct manifestation, usually called cupping. Here the area of the cup increases which causes the loss of side vision. This is diagnosed by experienced ophthalmologists, which is an exhaustive process. In this context, we are using watershed for automatic detection of eyes affected with glaucoma using image processing filtering & transformation techniques and implement the same on hardware using an FPGA.
