NEW CHALLENGES IN FLIGHT TESTING INSTRUCTION

After the "Escuela Espanola de Ensayos en Vuelo y Aeronavegabilidad (E4A)" (Spanish School for Flight Testing and Airworthiness), has been recognized on March 2017 by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as an Approved Training Organization, certified to train test pilots to EASA Standards, new challenges are in the horizon to be afforded. In particular, Remote Piloted Aircrafts (RPAs) Airworthiness and Flight Testing Training and Category 3 Flight Testing Training are the new challenges for this school. The paper begins with a description of E4A School and structure, constituted after agreement between University of Madrid and the Spanish Air Force. Present instruction and syllabus is presented. It follows with a description of the main new Flight Testing challenges in the Spanish Community: RPAs flight testing, especially relevant after procurement of MQ-9 Reaper and Category 3 Flight testing, after small industries and Airlines requirements. In both cases, European regulation is still very open and most of the work to define the training requirement is to clarify national requirements.
