TOWARD A FRAMEWORK FOR DEVELOPING COMPUTING PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: A REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Engineers are playing important roles in today's organizations which are operating in knowledge economy. Computing professionals might have a great influence on modern societies due to the prevalent usage of information and computer-based technology. Therefore, their ethical development is of great importance. The aim of this manuscript is to (1) review history, theories, and approaches to ethics in professional development, (2) to provide a critical evaluation of the current status of knowledge on ethics and ethical education in professional development, and (3) to introduce a framework for ethical education in professional development. Suggestions for future research will be provided and discussed.
