摘要

Statement of Purpose: Bombyx Mori silk fibroin from the mulberry silkworm has been studied over the past few decades for use in biomaterial applications. The unique tunability of the protein structure through various synthesis techniques allows for the changing of material and mechanical properties. Silk can be molded and shaped into the desired structure and can form gels and solid structures. This structural benefit has led researchers to create scaffolds for a range of tissues including bones and ligaments. The wide spectrum of silk properties is essential to closely mimicking those of native tissue to develop biomedical solutions.
