Comparison and Assessment of Recent Empirical Models for Turbulent Boundary Layer Wall Pressure Spectrum

This paper provides a comprehensive comparison and assessment of recently developed empirical models for the wall pressure spectrum for both zero and adverse pressure gradient flows. It is found that there is no single model that provides consistently accurate results for different test cases. For zero pressure gradient flows, the Goody and Hu models are the most accurate. For adverse pressure gradient on airfoils, the Rozenberg and Kamruzzaman models are the most accurate. The Catlett model results in inaccurate results in most cases. Based on the detailed assessment of all the models, an improved model based on the Rozenberg model is provided. The new model extends the validity of the original Rozenberg model to zero pressure gradient flows and non-symmetric and high-loading airfoil flows. The new model provides the most accurate results for all selected cases, which include flat plates, pipes, and airfoils.
