Primary/Secondary flow mixing characteristics in the RBCC flowpath

For a typical RBCC combustor flowpath configuration, the primary/secondary flow mixing characteristics were studied by theoretical and numerical methods. The mixing processes were revealed through macro characteristics parameters comparison and detailed flow field analysis. Mixing efficiency was chosen as evaluation parameters of the complicated flow processes. With typical flight mach incoming conditions, the primary/secondary flow interaction and mixing characteristics under different rocket jets conditions and nozzle geometry were compared, and the effect rules and mechanism were discussed detailedly. The preliminary research results indicate that, the major factors including rocket jets conditions, incoming airflow conditions, rocket nozzle configurations and rocket chamber pressure have key influence on the flow processes.
