The burner has a primary mixture pipe (4) concentrically surrounding a secondary air pipe (3) under formation of a circular cross section to place a primary mixture flow (15) into a combustion chamber (10). The flow has high burn dust loading from 0.8 to 10 kilogram burn dust per kilogram of air and/or gas. A pilot segment radially stretches between the pipes to increase the contact surface between the flow and hot flue gases. An independent claim is also included for a process of operating a round burner.
