A simplified wave rotor constant volume combustor (WRCVC) rig was installed by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), which includes rotor channel, inlet port, outlet port, seal discs, hot-jet igniter, air-intake section and fuel injector. This simplified WRCVC could operate at different rotating speed of inlet/outlet ports and different equivalence ratio. The pre-compression pressure of combustible mixture filling and peak pressure of constant volume combustion were measured by pressure sensor. As the rotating speed of inlet/outlet ports increased, the peak pressure of combustion pressurization in channel significantly increased and the largest pressure gain was approximately 0.6MPa. The maximum average peak pressure was 0.4558MPa. The pressure gain properties of WRCVC with different rotating speed of inlet/outlet ports and different equivalence ratio were analyzed and discussed. Using high-speed photography, the dynamic processes of initial flame formation and flame propagation in the channel of WRCVC were revealed. The influence of inlet velocity, rotating speed and equivalence ratio on pressure gain and flame propagation properties of WRCVC were attained.
