We present an analytical model of the drift in the air-core photonic-bandgap fiber (PBF) resonator optic gyroscope caused by temperature-driven polarization instability. Air-core PBF resonator based on micro-optical structure has been demonstrated and the finesse of the resonator is 7.5. Experimental results show that the gyro bias stability still seriously affected by the thermally induced polarization instability. By carefully controlling the temperature, a bias stability of 0.0034°/s has been demonstrated.
