Effect of Qigong exercise indexed by lightweight electroencephalography

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Qigong exercise on EEG activities. The study was conducted with healthy volunteers aged between 25-40 years. There were seven participants who had practiced Qigong exercise. The EEG power spectra of all participants were studied to compare the effects of Qigong exercise both before and after Qigong exercise by using the lightweight EEG device to measure brainwaves activities. The result showed that theta and alpha frequency bands had been increased with statistically significance level of 0.05 (p≤0.05) whereas delta, beta and gamma frequency bands were not changed. It is concluded that amplitude of brain activity could alter the Qigong exercise.
