The purpose of this study is to investigate high performance of non-contact drive using the novel linear Halbach array composed of cylinder-shaped PMs with characteristics of magnetic field slide and constructive flexibility. The structural feature of Halbach arrangement using cylinder-shaped PM is that the arranged permanent magnets are not in contact with each other. In case of the dimensions and magnetic properties of the cylinder-shaped PM are identical, the characteristic of the magnetic field of the novel linear Halbach array depends on the clearance of the arrayed cylinder-shaped PMs. Furthermore, since this model can configure not only the typical 90-degree rotating arrangement but also 45-degree and 60-degree rotating arrangements, the characteristics of the magnetic field due to these parameters are also of interest. In this paper, we show some complicated magnetic field characteristics and features in a 45- and 60-degree rotating arrangement model compared to the magnetic characteristics of a typical 90-degree arrangement in a flat model of a cylinder-shaped PM linear Halbach array. On these simulation results, from the viewpoint of non-contacting magnetic suspension due to the pinning effect of the flux of bulk HTS, we consider a feature of the magnetic field formation depending on the magnetic pole rotational angle arrangement.
