With the application of the geographic information system(GIS) technology, the microwave propagation technology and the mobile communication engineering technology, the visual signal coverage and the signal attenuation coverage of the localizer(LOC) and the glide path(GP) equipment of the instrument landing system(ILS) are assessed by using the method of visual analysis and signal attenuation analysis, compare the assessment results with the flight inspection data, The comparison results are basically consistent. This assessment provides a digital basis for the site selection approval and signal coverage analysis of a new ILS equipment, which has a high engineering application value.
