Bio-inspired compound eyes attracted widely attention with the advantages of small volume, large angle-of-view and high sensitivity. Researchers from domestic and overseas have been dedicating to theoretical analysis and structural design of the bio-inspired compound eyes. The paper present a multi-channel and large angle-of-view imaging system that uses fibre-optic faceplate as optical deflector element to improve the utilization of the off-axis ray effectively and promote poor image quality in edge of compound eyes. The project manage to achieve the goal of multi-channel imaging in bio-inspired compound eyes by using 9 ommatidia optical lens and optimize the design of single ommatidia channel, so as to ensure field angle and imagery quality. The experiment has shown that the multi-channel imagery experimental system which uses fibre-optic faceplate as deflector element could function as large angle-of-view imagery. And its field angle can reach 120 degrees which is a bigger improvement than single lens.
