A new turbulence model, able to predict the misalignment of the principal components of the strain and stress tensors, is presented. The baseline model is a simple eddy-viscosity model, built upon a previous 3-equation model and based on the elliptic-blending approach. Compared to the Reynolds-stress model from which this model is derived, no additional model calibration is necessary, and the model is readily applicable to canonical and complex flows. The performance and the robustness of the new lag model are compared to the most common turbulence models available.
