The paper proposes a new approach to guidance algorithm design forthe Target-Attacker-Defender problem, that is applied to each of thethree agents, and it is based on the idea of specifying the desired performancein terms of miss distance, and optimizing the effort. Three differentproblems are formulated and solved for each of the three agents. Thesolutions are formulated as guidance algorithms that use quantities thatare realistically obtainable from sensor measurements and estimates, aswell as flight parameters of the opposing agents that need to be estimatedas well. Using simulation results, we show that the performance of theproposed guidance laws under perfect information assumption, as well asin the presence of estimation errors.
