The projectile in the process of penetrating into the soil is easy to generate ballisticinstability phenomenon, which has considerable influence on the projectile penetration anddamage. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and study the motion law and ballisticcharacteristics of the projectile penetrating into soil. In this paper, the experiment method toobtain the ballistic information of the projectile penetrating into soil by the X-ray camerawas established. The experiments obtained the images of the ballistic trajectory of theprojectile penetrating soil and the images were analyzed. At the same time, the ballistictrajectory of the projectile with different departure angle was calculated by LS-DYNA. Andthe numerical simulation provided the posture and movement characteristics of theprojectile penetrating into soil. The attitude and ballistic trajectory characteristics of theprojectile obtained by the numerical simulation were in agreement with the experimentalimages and had high reliability.
