Thermochemical iodine-sulfur (IS) process is one of the ways of hydrogen production from water using high temperature heat of around 900°C. Hydrogen production with little CO2 emission is expected in combination with nuclear or solar heat source. Figure 1 illustrates a schematic of the process. Water is decomposed into hydrogen and by-product oxygen following the reactions.
