This study showed that the Pauling electronegativity of M, p is an important factor to predict the crystalline phases and reduce the amounts of by-product gas (NH3 and B2H6) emissions of AB-MH mixtures. AB-MA1H4 (M = Na, Li) mixtures, which were prepared based on the important factor, successfully suppressed by-product gas emissions. Preferential formation of MBH4 (M = Na, Li) and A1N would result in the suppression.
