Fall in elderly individuals occurs due to anatomical and physiological changes induced by age and 30% of elderly face an accident of falling at least once every year. It is of utmost importance to provide medical attention immediately in these accidents. Seventy percent of these accidents end in mortality. The objective of the present study is to develop a system that would identify and report falling accidents in elderly. In this system, TI ez430-Chronos wearable watch would transfer patient information to Raspberry Pi via Bluetooth and Raspberry Pi would analyze the incoming accelerometer data and identify the fall, and then notify smartphones using Google cloud messaging. The designed system detects the fall and immediately notifies a relative.
