This publication presents a new control approach for permanent excited transverse flux machines based on a dynamic compensation control with an adaptive parameter correction. The control approach compensates for dynamic periodic fluctuations in the machine parameters and corrects the control parameter in real time with a recursive least square algorithm and, thus, enables optimized current control. In combination with an adapted reference current waveform a torque optimized control of the machine is done. The machine topology is presented and analyzed. The control approach and the adaptive parameter correction are presented. Furthermore, the parameters of a reference machine are determined based on measurements. Finally, the functionality of the control approach is confirmed by conducting simulations.
