Experimental validation of the FPA-based infrared thermography as applied to identification of the particulate matter adsorptive and desorptive properties are presented. Using the original equipment, test experiments were carried out to detect a hydrophilic and hydrophobic response obtained from pulverulent materials in the course of a filling the reaction chamber with wet or normal atmospheric air and also after pumping the gas away. Quantitative thermal characteristics of transitional processes progressing on the probed samples granulated surface were measured continuously using InAs FPA-based infrared camera with time resolution of 10 ms per frame. The effectiveness and potential of the IRT for granular material surface studies are demonstrated.
