A modified algorithm of radar simulator echo images generation

Aiming at the deficiency of the algorithm of the radar simulator echo images generation, a modified algorithm is proposed in this paper. The algorithm converts the geographical coordinates of the shoreline into plane coordinates by the Vincenty's formulae, uses the modified RDP to simplify the shoreline data, uses normal and Rayleigh distribution model to simulate the radar precipitation clutter, and proposes a new method based on computer image cropping for generating and displaying the clutter image. The simulation results show that the algorithm can effectively solve the image deformation problems by using the Mercator projection coordinates to generate radar image and make the bearing and distance calculation more accurate. The drawing efficiency of the echo image is enhanced through the modified RDP simplifying the shoreline data, and the quality of the echo image is not affected. The established precipitation clutter model can better simulate the radar precipitation clutter, and the new clutter image generation and display method can better achieve the real time simulation of radar clutter.
