Near-field coupling communication (NFCC) is a technology that uses the surface of the human body as a transmission path under 10 MHz. A human body equivalent phantom is required to obtain reproducible experimental data when we evaluate communication quality. We developed a phantom which was a vinyl chloride pipe. The pipe was filled with water including sodium chloride, the conductivity of which was adjusted to 0.6 S/m at 6.75 MHz. We experimentally determined that the phantom was regarded as a human body equivalent phantom for analyzing surface and space propagation in MHz-band signal transmission. Then, we determined that the relative permittivity of the phantom had little effect on its propagation characteristics with 0.5 S/m in the MHz-band. The phantom can be applied to an analysis of an interference mechanism, and this application is discussed.
