In the paper, a netted waveguide antenna is proposed for UWB wind turbine blade deflection sensing. The designed antenna is mountable on large ground plane with end-fire radiation and has a low profile of 0.075 λL (λL is the free-space wavelength at the lowest operating frequency). The bandwidth of the antenna is from 2.82 to 4.97 GHz (1.76:1) which is sufficient to cover the lower UWB band of 3.1-4.9 GHz. The realized gain is from 7.5 to 11 dBi within the operating frequencies. In order to further reduce the wind resistance of the antenna, the rectangular waveguide is netted without changing its performance.
