THE COUGAR EXPERIMENT FOR BEXUS 18 - LESSONS LEARNED

In this paper, the development process and experiment conduction of the COUGAR experiment flown on BEXUS 18 is described. The aim is to describe the development process in detail to provide information for future experiments on how to avoid common pit-falls in the planing, development and conducting of a student experiment. This includes the illustration of the initial idea and experiment proposal, how the concept of the different subsystems developed over time and finally the experiment actually conducted in Autumn 2014. Especially factors that led to additional and unanticipated delays are highlighted, along with others that are specific to the processes inside a student project team.
