This paper presents a hybrid method for predicting tonal noise from an advanced open rotor. The method utilizes predictions from a three-dimensional unsteady CFD simulation of an advanced open rotor rig. The front rotor wake velocity profiles obtained from the CFD simulations are compared in detail to profiles obtained from analytical models. Those analytic models are then used to propagate the CFD-generated results to the downstream blade row. The unsteady response of the downstream rotor blades, and the resulting far-field tonal noise, are calculated analytically and the results are compared with measurements from a model rig test.
