Modelling mean forces and moments due to waves based on RANS simulations

In order to predict manoeuvrability of ships in seaways a mathematicalmodel for approximating the hydrodynamic forces actingon the ship has been extended for taking into account mean forcesand moments due to waves. RANS computations for a twin screwpassenger ship in waves of various lengths coming from all directionshave been used to determine the coefficients of the mathematicalmodel. The paper shows that a double parametric approachon wave length and encountering angle is capable of reconstructingthe mean forces and moments for all considered situations.
