Analyzing the Risk Factors of Guangdong Province's Rural Highway Using Interpretative Structural Model

The situation of traffic safety in the Guangdong Province's rural highway is serious because of the frequent accidents. Thus, it is imperative that the reason why these accidents occur be determined; more specifically, we need to identify the risk factors and analyze the mechanism of accidents. Combined with the existing methods and theories of risk management, this research identifies the main risk factors, which influenced the safety of the rural highway in Guangdong Province. First, empirical evidences, which are tightly connected to the situation in the Guangdong Province, were taken into account spontaneously. Subsequently, the structural relationship of identified factors were explored by using Interpretative Structural Model, which depends on the multilevel hierarchical structure to explain the mechanism of the accidents' formation faultlessly. Last but not the least, we conclude by making suggestions to improve the safety management level of transportation in the Guangdong Province.
