Recently, with the increase in the demand for lightweight material for fuel saving in the transportation industry such as automobiles and aircraft, the study on the addition of rare earth (RE) to improve its mechanical properties in magnesium alloy is gradually increasing [1-4]. However, due to high cost and limited production of RE elements, their use in magnesium parts industry has been limited. On the other hand, the addition of misch-metal in magnesium alloy can provide many advantages for improving characteristics than that of RE addition in terms of the economical perspectives. In present work, the effect of misch-metal addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AM80-xMM magnesium alloy was investigated. With increasing the amount of misch-metal, the microstructure of AM80 magnesium alloy is changed dramatically and has increased the phases of rod shape formed by the addition of misch-metal.
