Unraveling the Lead-Time Uncertainty Paradox

In theory, a reduction in lead-time uncertainty could increase safety stock. This paradoxical result contradicts conventional wisdom. We investigate the propositions necessary to observe this lead-time uncertainty paradox. The practical reality is the current management intuition is appropriate-even when the propositions are valid.
