Determining Influential Factors on Corridor Width in Airport Concourse Operations

The successfully designed airport concourse must perform at a level that meets the needs of the passengers. To date, there is no comprehensive database of information on which factors have the greatest influence on corridor occupancy and the relationship between concourse width and different concourse operating configurations that can maintain a desired level of service. In this research, we focus on one performance measure - the occupancy of a designated area of the concourse. We identify significant factors that affect the planning of airport operations and establish a service level design standard matrix to assist in airport design and development.
