MyWATER - Decision support system (DSS) for water yield estimation The web-based decision support system (DSS) is deliberately designed to facilitate the management and observation of water yield for the needs of the water asset related industry and government in Malaysia. DSS of wayer yield relies on observations from continous and long-term ground water gauges from 55 stations over Peninsular Malaysia; highly repetitive and large coverage of environmental satellite of radar precipitation (TRMM) and evaporation (from MODIS of Terra and Aqua) and comprehensive geospatial data-base management system (Geo-DBMS). Concept of the DSS is basically to share and disseminate related water yield products derived by ground and satellite-based observations, such as, (a) water yield, (b) water discharge, (c) precipitation, (d) rainfall rate and (e) evaporation, as well as trend and time-series analysis of these products during flood, draught, water-shortage and rationing event. State government and industry may find the DSS would help in determining the potential area of event and managing the water asset so that, any mitigation and management plan could be made rapidly (almost near real-time) and economically (less man power and highly cost processing). The design of DSS is based on spatio-temporal Geo-DBMS that stores all support vector layers (e.g., water catchment, primary rain gauge stations, river networks, water-shed, etc.) as geometry in MySQL database, support imagery basemap technology by Google (e.g., API) and Google Earth support Key Markup Language (KML).
