Alteration of Mobile River Bridge Hurricane, AL

摘要

The old swing span of CSX Transportation Railroad Bridge over the Mobile River, Hurricane, AL wasreplaced under the Coast Guard Bridge Alteration Program with a new 365 feet long lift span that providessufficient navigation opening meets today and future navigation needs. This paper addresses various challengesand construction techniques used to complete this project and overcome the complex site limitations andrestrictions. Also, the paper addresses the Accelerated Bridge Construction method used to replace the draw spanof the bridge with the least interruption to both rail and river traffic.
