Alteration of Mobile River Bridge Hurricane, AL

摘要

The old swing span of CSX Transportation Railroad Bridge over the Mobile River, Hurricane, AL was replaced under the Coast Guard Bridge Alteration Program with a new 365 feet long lift span that provides sufficient navigation opening meets today and future navigation needs. This paper addresses various challenges and construction techniques used to complete this project and overcome the complex site limitations and restrictions. Also, the paper addresses the Accelerated Bridge Construction method used to replace the draw span of the bridge with the least interruption to both rail and river traffic.
