摘要

The majority of the output from the photovoltaic (PV) industry is crystalline silicon solar cells. The usage of silicon feedstock alternatives to polysilicon for making multicrystalline solar cells promises cost reduction for the photovoltaic market. The properties of such a new material, under normal operating conditions are tested by varying mild to harsh temperature and incident irradiance conditions in the laboratory to simulate various climatic conditions. In our present research the temperature coefficients from IV measurements of solar cells originating from two different feedstocks, the Elkem Solar Silicon (ESS®) and polysilicon, under both full and varied intensities as well as selective parts of the light spectrum from a AAA sun simulator are studied in particular to be able to predict the actual field operation of the different materials better.
