In this work results of transmission electron microscopic on one TPO encapsulant and thermo analytical investigations on different polymer films used for photovoltaic devices are presented after a modified simulated weathering procedure. Back sheet material containing Polyethylene Terephthalate PET was tested. Besides PET-based back sheets, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate EVA and Thermoplastic Polyolefin TPO-based encapsulation films have been investigated as well. Results of Differential Scanning Calorimetry DSC show a change in melting and crystallization behavior, corresponding with lamellae diameter. Water vapor transmission WVTR rate is not significantly affected by aging processes.
