Traffic monitoring systems are key components in the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The Land Transport Authority of Singapore is constantly exploring cost-effective investment for traffic sensor deployment on our road network to enhance traffic monitoring and management capability in Singapore. In this paper, we demonstrate Minimal Sufficient Network (MSN), an intelligent traffic sensor planning and deployment system developed together with IBM Research Collaboratory Singapore, which transfers conventional sensor deployment method from the real field investigation on arterial roads to a software-based system which automatically visualizes and analyzes road conditions, evaluates existing traffic sensor system and conducts the best performance and the most cost-effective traffic sensor deployment.
