Parking has become an information-centric industry operating on real-time data. The state-of-the-art sensing technologies enable parking enterprises to collect a variety of valuable data from the physical world. In addition to real-time sensory data, there are many relatively-static data sources scattered around and managed by different players within the parking business ecosystem. Such parking data are, however, in great demand both enterprise-internally and by external systems to support operational decision-making, dynamic guidance, payment processes, and parking enforcement. A need was identified for a software system to take care of bridging various parking-related data sources in a flexible and highly maintainable way. The developed system accesses input data from various sources, integrates them in an appropriate manner, and publishes the data further to match different application needs. The authors' solution is more lightweight and affordable when compared to large-scale integration solutions for distributed data sources.
