Professional Engineering work will be characterised as the possibility to design our world. Consumer products, the possibilities of global communication and the development solutions for the environment will have a main effect on our social systems and our ability to viability. Engineering Education has to recognise the fundamental role of engineering work and has to create a system of engineering education. Professional engineers are educated to be aware of the dualistic function of their profession and act accordingly. They need a transfer and a responsible competence. To establish such an engineering education this report develops the idea of a "Leonardian Oath" as ethical commitment in engineering education and profession.
