In China, intervention of local government and local general federation of trade unions often serves as an important factor in resolving strikes.The conflict, which took place at the Guanxing factory of Shenzhen in 2011, however, was resolved without such direct intervention from govemment.By providing legal help for workers and bargaining with the employer on their behalf, a law office played a key role in the negotiation.The successful resolution of the Guanxing factory strike demonstrates that constructive and rational bargaining, with a trusting legal agency, is a way to realize the autonomy of both employer and worker interests.It also provides a new thinking towards saving collective bargaining from predicament.
