This paper addressed the optimization problem of H_∞ proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller tuning based on the multi-agent particle swarm optimization (MAP-SO) algorithm. Firstly, we formulated a PID controller, and in light of which, the objective function of the system was set up. Then, in order to overcome the drawback of the existing PSO algorithm, we utilized the MAPSO algorithm to solve the abovementioned optimization problem as the particles in multi-agent architecture can dramatically enhance information exchange capacity. A simulation example was finally carried out to illustrate the effectiveness and potential of the achieved method in solving the PID tuning optimazation problem.
