摘要

The Malaysian Homestay Program was established in 1995 at Peninsular Malaysia and North Borneo to provide rural village as a new tourism product and to encourage rural people to participate in the tourism sector.This study aims to clarify the implementation of this program by focusing on the management style and participation of existing state, district, and village organizations at 10 successful homestay programs that were recognized by the Ministry of Tourism in the Top Ten List of Highest Homestay Cluster 2012.Findings show that the management at these homestay programs are held by three groups:the Homestay Committee (participated by Woman and Youth Bureaus), cooperatives (participated by the State Department,District Council, and the Village Development and Security Committee), and government authorities (participated by the Village Development and Security Committee).
