Cultural Re-imaginings in Public Space Development: A Philippine Case Study

摘要

It is said that culture has the ability to transform ordinary spaces into places of meaning by the people residing, working, and visiting a city.Since culture has a number of cultural service platforms by which societies, led by its governments, may choose to promote it, is there a particular cultural medium that highlights development attributes unique in our cities? Moreover, how is this medium of culture utilized in relation with the development of our public spaces, especially in developing societies where the demand for a more efficient management of a city's resources is of great concern? This paper seeks to highlight socio-spatial perspectives in public space development and utilization, enhancing the overall cultural context by which a number of architectural applications may be further explored and connected.
