Construction of the CTA cofferdam at Heathrow Airport, London

摘要

This paper briefly describes the planning and execution of the largest cofferdam ever constructed in the United Kingdom, namely, the Central Terminal Area Cofferdam at Heathrow Airport. A key feature was the teamwork approaches used across company boundaries and within the specialist contractor who constructed the cofferdam using 182 No large diameter stepped secant/contiguous piles. The evolution of the solution, planning and construction are described from the specialist contractor's viewpoint.
