Developing a Virtual Reality Game User Experience Test Method Based on EEG Signals

User Experience (UX) of virtual reality games is usually measured by subjective and objective methods: subjective methods are most convenient way to rating usability, comfort, satisfactory, etc., however, subjective methods are more easily to be misguided. Eye tracking is one of the most popular objective methods to measure usability. However, when wearing a VR helmet, eye tracker is hard to use to record eye movement data. In our study, we developed a new method and indicator to test virtual reality game UX: Electroencephalography(EEG) signals and the brain functional connectivity (FC). We tested two kinds of VR games by using EEG signals, the results showed the FC has a significant difference for two VR games of different usability, and a significant difference were observed in Gamma band, which indicated EEG can be a good tool to analyze UX of virtual reality game.
